A DAY IN THE LIFE….Shadowrun Introductory Box Set work…
We’re about to send the Shadowrun Introductory Box Set off to print. As I noted in a shadowruntabletop.com blog, to print it domestically we had to spread it out across 5 different companies, like this:
Company V
Instruction Sheet
Quick-Start Rules
World Book (The Edge of Now)
Rulebook (Rules of the Street)
Adventure Book (Plots and Paydata)
4 Character Booklets
Catalyst Catalog
Fire & Ice Novel Excerpt
Computer Game Ad
North America Poster Map
Company W
8 maps
5 Character/GM Sheets
Company X
Weapon/Equipment Cards
Company Y
D6s in polybag
Company Z
Rigid Set Up Box
Then it all has to be collated as well into the final box. First, the printer sent us a sample of the rigid set up box and I took a swath of components from other sources to build the interior component list and test out that they all fit and that the box would hold up.

All of which went well. Then, you have to build a specific list to hand to the final Company Z, who will not only build the box, but collate all the components after they’ve all shipped in from the four other printers (they’re going to follow those instructions exactly, so you better get the order you want the first time; we’re currently discussing whether this actually is the best order or not):
Insert the following in this order into the box base:
1. North America Poster Map
2. Computer Game Ad
3. 8 maps [order of maps is irrelavent]
4. 5 Character/GM Sheets [order of sheets is irrelavent]
5. Adventure Book (Plots and Paydata)
6. Rulebook (Rules of the Street)
7. World Book (The Edge of Now)
8. 4 Character Booklets [order of booklets is irrelavent]
9. Quick-Start Rules
10. Catalyst Catalog
11. Fire & Ice Novel Excerpt
12. Weapon/Equipment Cards
13. D6s in plolybag (1 bag)
14. Instruction Sheet
Place on rigid set up box lid; shrinkwrap
And there ya go…just another fun day of production!
