Shadowrun Print Novel Fire & Frost Cover Art

The Shadowrun print novel Fire & Frost has gone to print…the first print novel in 8 years! And for the first time since the very first Anthology in 1989, its a trade paperback size!
The book will be going on sale very shortly for the epub and print pre-orders, but wanted to share the details from our art director, Brent Evans, on the gorgeous cover, along with all the “Works in Progress” from the first to the final:
The process of creating the cover image for Fire & Frost reminded me of that old saying, “the devil is in the details." And since this is Shadowrun after all - the devil matters. Art duties for this one fell to fan-favorite Victor Moreno to craft an action scene playing out in a hostile frozen environment. Unlike most of Victor’s images this one required 5 rounds of edits as the Development Team evaluated a whole host of details that would matter in bringing this to life. The discussions were great fun, ranging from ‘how big is a troll compared to a truck?’ to 'how would cyber-limbs be effected by -40 degree temperatures?' If you scroll through the progression on this image you’ll see we adjusted the scale and color of the truck, added motion blurs, adjusted the troll’s coat to cover his cyberlimbs, changed the lightening strike to increase the sense of danger, and tweaked a whole host of other elements… All of which just goes to show how much the creative team loves Shadowrun (and all its devilishly cool details.) The result is one really awesome image in a setting we don’t get to see very often - and I nod my hat once again to Victor for a job well done.
